I remember those warm days when my grandma (Nana) used to make her homemade flour tortillas like it was yesterday! The taste, the texture, mmm so delicious!
Nana would put some butter in between the warm tortilla and roll it up for me. Oh the deliciousness!
I’ve always appreciated the homemade foods and the warm memories. So, making food from scratch has always been an exciting thing for me! Back then when Jane was a toddler I would literally make anything I could out of scratch! It obviously became time consuming and overtime I needed to pick and choose which items to make at home.
Sometimes we are short on time and need to buy flour tortillas, but oh those days when I make them! I love having them with warm refried beans and queso fresco. Jane, my older daughter, loves to make flour tortillas with me. One time I had to pause making the tortillas because I had something to attend to. I left the comal on and when I finally got back downstairs 10-15 minutes later, Jane had practically finished rolling and cooking the rest of the batch (insert emoji with a happy tear)!
Homemade flour tortillas are very easy to make. With only 5 ingredients you can whip up a quick batch on fajita taco night or make chicken quesadillas for lunch the next day! It is a perfect activity for children young to older.
I’m so happy to share with you this super simple homemade flour tortilla recipe!
