In today’s post I am sharing with you a classic and delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe.
This is one of those recipes that you will continue to come back too and one of those that will become a family tradition.
It is simple and so much better than the boxed options.
Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, you will absolutely love this one!
I normally prefer not to add in the nuts, but once in a while when I’m feeling more wild (or just trying to please my mother in law who prefers nuts) I will add them in.

- 1 cup Butter softened (2 sticks)
- 2 1/2 Cups All-purpose flour
- 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
- 2 Teaspoons Warm water
- 1 Cup sugar
- 1 Cup Brown Sugar
- 2 Teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 2 Cups SemiSweet Chocolate Chips
- 1 Cup Chopped Walnuts Optional

- Preheat Oven to 350 F.
- Cream Together butter and sugar until smooth.
- Beat eggs one at a time. Add vanilla extract and salt. Dissolve baking soda in warm water and add to batter.
- Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts if desired.
- Work in batches and drop spoonfuls onto baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes or until edges are browned*.
*Note: Make sure they are barely browned as they continue to cook and become hard once removed from oven and cooled.
