25 Slow Living Goals for the New Year

As I step into 2025, I’m centering my year around one word: slow. This word reflects my desire to live intentionally, embrace simplicity, and romanticize the everyday. It’s about slowing down to enjoy life, finding beauty in ordinary moments and aligning my choices with what truly matters.

Minimalism and intentional living go hand in hand with this slower pace. It’s not about having less for the sake of it, but about curating a life that feels meaningful and free from clutter, both physically and mentally. I want to bring this mindset into every area of my life, from my home to my relationships, and even my wardrobe.

With that vision in mind, here are my goals for 2025, organized into a few simple categories.

Homemaking

• Work towards a from-scratch kitchen: I'm not saying that I will make everything from scratch, but I really want my family and I to avoid processed foods as much possible.

• Add kitchen shelves: When we first bought our home we removed some of the cabinets above the sink and never got around to adding the shelves. I'm tired of that empty wall, so it has to happen this year.

• Expand garden: I want to add more garden beds and grow more seasonal veggies.

• Grow herbs: I'm leaning towards growing this indoors to easily access when cooking.

• Pressure Can more foods: Can someone say homegrown canned pickles or preserved peaches 😩 That is my dream.

• Mini closet & half bathroom makeover: Nothing major, but I'd like to make my closet space cozy and cute with decor, a small vanity, and maybe some curtains for my small window. As for the bathroom, I'd love to change hardware, switch out the mirror, and possibly add some wallpaper.

• Buy more locally: I'm talking local grassfed meats, honey, raw milk, and be more intentional about supporting small businesses.

• Be intentional with what I bring into my home: This is always to be worked on.

• Avoid overbuying on Amazon: I love this modern convenience, but it definitely leads to buying more than we need.

Health

• Walk 5x a week: Or daily would be ideal. Walking is amazing for our health.

• Stretch regularly: I always feels amazing after a relaxing stretch.

• Complete a postpartum recovery program: I've been working on a program and can't wait to share my progress and the program I chose.

• Continue avoiding foods with dye, MSG, and GMOs: Most of the time we avoid this, but in recent years I have slowly allowed my older girls to try out certain junk foods, but it's got out of hand and we need to just stop.

• Sleep earlier so that I can wake. before the kids for some quiet time.

• Eat seasonal foods: To keep my body balanced.

Personal

• Continue to align with the seasons: Not only with seasonal eating like mentioned above, but also in the way I spend my days.

• Read before bed: I hope to read every night.

• Set boundaries with technology: I'd like to avoid it first thing in the morning and before bed. Also, put it away in a drawer more often during the daytime.

• Journal more: To lay out my thoughts and connect with myself.

• Read 20 books: There are so many books on my list! That is why I plan to make it a routine to read before bed.

• Build a high-quality wardrobe with natural fabrics: We are on a better vibration when we wear cotton, wool, and linen. Additionally, synthetic fabrics are toxic to our hormone health amongst other things.

• Own fewer, better pieces that last for years: Less is more and I've been so over fast fashion.

• Do my Kibbe body + color analysis: I can't wait to share more on my Kibbe analysis and I only want to bring in pieces that will flatter me and my body shape.

Family

• Call long-distance family more often: I want to be old fashioned like our mothers and grandmothers and continue connecting with my loved ones who are far away.

• Host more guests and gatherings: I want to welcome friends and family, bake, cook, and spend time with them.

Each of these goals reflects my intention to live slower, more meaningfully, and with greater purpose. This year, I’m looking forward to letting go of unnecessary distractions, prioritizing connection, and creating beauty in both big and small ways.

I highly recommend a planner to help you organize your days better and inspire you to romanticize everyday. I'm using this cottagecore inspired pdf planner that I created below:
